Scope
The purpose of this document is to outline the regulations for running the Cheshire and North Wales Trials Centre Championship. The Cheshire and North Wales Centre (CNW Centre) is the region as directed by the Auto Cycle Union (ACU)
This document will not cover specific rules that are covered under the ACU Trials Standing Regulations.
Registration
There will be no requirement for riders to pre-register for the Championship. All riders entering any of the designated Championship rounds will be automatically entered into the Championship providing they meet the eligibility criteria.
Events
Round 1 – 22nd March , Oswestry & District MCC
Round 2 – 17th May , Frodsham Trials Club
Round 3 – 28th June , Colwyn Motor Club
Round 4 – 27th September . Llangollen & District MCC
Round 5 – 4th November . Winsford & District Motor Club
Classes
The following classes are available and will ride the following routes.
The routes may differ from the exact colours below but these are based on the usual colour used within the CNW Centre
Adults:
Expert Route – Expert Class Riders (Red/Blue Markers – Hardest available as determined by the club)
Intermediate Route –Intermediate Class Riders, Over 40plus Class (Orange or Green Markers as determined by the club)
Novice Route – Novice Class Riders, Over 40 Class, Twinshock Class (Machines manufactured prior to 1987) – (Yellow Markers)
White Route – Non-Championship Class open to any novice or beginner rider not wishing to compete in the Championship – (White Markers)
Youth:
Youth A – Intermediate Route (50/50, Orange or Green as determined by the club)
Youth B – Yellow Route
Youth C – White Route
Youth D – White Route
Youth Classes are as determined by ACU TSR.1
Riders must ride the route and class prescribed to be eligible for championship points based on the first event they enter. If any rider enters the wrong class or rides the wrong route at a championship event they will not be eligible for points. This is regardless if the class entered also has the same route e.g., Over 40 riders entering as a Novice
It is the riders responsibility to ensure they have entered the correct class with the club at the event.
Eligibility
The following conditions must be met for a rider to be eligible to compete in Championship or for the Championship to be run,
- Riders must reside within the boundaries of the Cheshire and North Wales Centre or be affiliated with a CNW Club for more than 3 years.
- There must be at least 3 riders competing in a minimum of 2 rounds for a class to be deemed to have met the minimum eligibility criteria.
- A rider must compete in a minimum of 3 rounds to be eligible for the Championship.
The following rules will apply to upgrading and only to the CNW Championship.
- All Expert Class riders will continue to be entered in the same class in subsequent years irrespective of whether the rider wins the Championship Class.
- The winner of the Intermediate Class Championship will be required to upgrade to Expert Class in the following season or continue in the Intermediate Class on a non-Championship basis (for a period of 12 months).
- The winner of the Novice Class Championship will be required to upgrade to Intermediate Class in the following season or continue in the Novice Class on a non-Championship basis (for a period of 12 months).
- No grading will apply to the age-related classes.
The following rules will apply to downgrading:
A rider requesting a downgrade must do so in writing to the Centre prior to competing in any rounds of the Championship. Class winners and runners-up are not eligible for a downgrade for 12 months following receiving an award in their class.
General Rules
- Method of marking shall be TRS.22A (Stop Allowed)
- Points to be awarded as per Table 1.
- At the conclusion of the series, the points for each rider’s performance from all the rounds held less one (lowest points score) will be added together and the rider with the highest number of points to their credit will be the winner
- Ties will be resolved in the following manner.
- In favour of the rider with the greatest number of wins in all rounds
- If not resolved then the greatest number of second places and so on down to 15th place in all rounds
- If not resolved the rider with the best performance in the final event will be the winner.

Awards
The championship winners name will be added to the Centre Championship Trophy and will be awarded a replica trophy.
Riders placing in second place will also receive a Trophy Award providing a minimum of 5 riders have met the eligibility criteria (specifically 5 riders or more must complete at least 2 rounds).

Based on the above eligibility criteria, the 2025 Championship would have awarded:
- Expert Class Winner – Brad Bullock
- Intermediate Class Winner – Liam Atkinson
- Novice Class – No Award
- Over 40+ Winner – Robert Reese, Runner-up Paul Smart
- Over 40 Winner – Colin Sager, Runner-up Steve Barnes
